The rangers had been requested by the elders and had just entered the The Council Inner Chambers. The previous ranger-scouts had already been given their orders by their commanders. However these rangers were to be given a special assignment.
They passed through the catacombs and discussed the curious nature of their summons to the Council’s Inner Sanctum.
Yemo didn’t speak much but Kokoi began hoping for a quest that included a real adventure. Yemo, continued thinking, especially on the significance of them entering the inner sanctum, forbidden to those of their rank.
They walked for some time and then turned a corner into a passage with a throne at its end.
As they approached the air above the throne began to glow. They approached the throne cautiously and then knelt before it.
The throne began to speak. It told them they were chosen for a recognisance mission into the wastelands to find out if certain rumours could be supported by any hard facts.
The rumours ranged from “walking forests”, to “tame creatures turning into vicious beasts”.
As they knelt the wisps of light sprang forth from the thrones framework. The light spoke to their minds and began providing visionary details, of where they were to go and what they might expect to find.
Hidden in the messages broadcasted to them, was why, Nyam males were turning against their Nyem female masters and even raiding towns and villages leaving behind death and carnage. However, they had no yet understood the gift they had just received. Powers that will serve them well in the difficult years to come.
After receiving their orders, the remaining elders-wisps of light , disappeared from the throne room and vanished into the abyss, high up in the throne’s framework.
The Rangers both got up and walked away from the throne room. Before they turned the final corridor and made their way out into the open, they looked at each other with surprise, realising that they could hear each other’s thoughts. Rather concerned they began to speculate on what the elder’s had done to them, in the catacombs. The shock of their experience left them speechless for a while, as they departed the Council’s Inner Sanctum.

Ana walked into the woods as she always does and knew the routes well to the quietest places and views of beauty.
She thought it was a beautiful forest although slightly dark at times but it always looked fantastic and magical to Ana.
On this day it was different. Not quite quiet, but with a definite hum about it. She had a weird feeling, not familiar as such, but most noticeable to one who visits so often.
As she walked deeper into the woods she noticed the path had changed its pattern. The footpath carved out by her previous visits seemed somewhat wider, as if more than one person, maybe a group of people had just pasted by.
Curious as her nature was and with some apprehension, she walked on further down the path to explore what was a head.
The further she walked the more mysterious the path became. A speck of light shone brightly in the distance through the trees, not from the sky, but as if it were the sun beginning to set.
Suddenly a brightness flickered across the trees followed by wisps of light flashing all around her. Although she couldn’t smell anything burning, a misty cloud began to rise from the forest floor. The forest had come alive, illuminating her surroundings.
Before her, shone a gate with a figure standing in its doorway. Not a man she thought, it was too short. She hesitated once again and then approached cautiously.
She wondered “could this be the Ghost Boy the elders have been prophesying about”. There was only way to find out, she decided to communicate with the figure, although she wasn’t really sure what to say. She thought, “I’ll keep it simple, and just say hello and hope for the best”.
