Ananse World, are Ghana Comics where Afreeka Radio Projects present other content some of which are not directly related to the other three-Ananse Amazon, Ananse Universe and Ananse Atlantic. Those projects refer respectively to the trilogy of books, The Chronicles of Een, The Chronicles of Muna and The Chronicles of Irofo.
In this workshop we are looking at how we would like to design the overall feeling of the comic-cartoon movie part of the project and as such we continue to revise the “Ghecos Evolution” development of scenes and characters. As an example we have put together a short title demo and added a brief glimpse of a new character. Ghana Comics, Ghana Comic Network
This Ghana comic spy thriller is about the first discovery of oil, the building of a refinery and then the destruction through industrial espionage by outside forces.
“Afreeka Globe – It has been suggested that it’s the systematic acquisition of Ghanaian major resources in a bid to control the gateway to Africa… could it be true? put our best reporter on the case”…
The conspiracy involves the control of West African leader Amura and human basic resources such as water to force low crop yields. Electricity has been prevented from fully functioning to hamper the manufacturing industry. Reduced communication of the Internet, phone and disruption of satellite services is in effect to control speed and censorship of media distribution. Mining of mineral wealth has been halted to prevent the purchase of technology and prevent growth of the nation to super power status.
We join the adventure midway through the saga, with an electronic transmission glitch from UK to the USA between wealthy individuals. It’s intercepted by the Russians and the information offered up for sale to the Chinese.
A silent techno war creeps forward as “Chinese troops” in the form of domestic workers get caught illegally mining supposedly for gold, but in fact it’s a smoke screen for Chinese researchers to extract a sample mineral of “Ghaladamite Ore”.
“Afreeka Globe – We suspect the ore was first detected during the initial offshore test drilling for oil. Satellite scans show that the geological mines for the ore, were not only found at sea, where mining it would draw too much attention, but also at inland caves unearthed during the construction of Africa’s largest man-made harbour oil refinery.”
… Ghale hears of a child, Ananse-who seems to have developed extraordinary perceptive powers. News reporter Ghale goes undercover in order track down the kid in an attempt to discover if this phenomenon is related to the ore…
Ghaninja is a comic series about a Ghanaian Ninja fighter and his nemesis Dr Drulo. Ghaninja mostly ends up fighting Swagha, a clever thief who contracts for Dr Drulo. Swagha is tasked with missions to steal and loot from people and their corporations.
Their fights are of a Kung fu nature and Swagha has a lair where he stashes his loot/bounty and sells his ill-gotten gains to the highest bidder which is usually the evil villain Dr Drulo. The loot consists of jewellery and techno gadgets.
We start with a comical series of sketches where they are in rehearsals for their Ghana Comic debut, since they are actors as well part of the story.
In rehearsals they show off their human side…
Ghaninja complains…”I thought we agreed no head butting, during rehearsals…”
Swagha – “I thought you were joking…, Oh i’m sorry, can we try that again?”
Ghaninja – “I can’t work with such amateurs…where is my agent! Damn cheap actors on set yet again…”
Swagha – “I think you’re over reacting…your’e such a baby. :-), you’re so sensitive…”
Our Ghana Comic story begins with an explorer reciting from an old ancient manuscript found in a desert tomb in West Africa….A long long time ago….
One day a visitor came to the city of Shanghala and offered an explanation as to what the ‘tree’ was and why it was, what it was.”
‘The Stranger’ said, “the tree is a cunning creature of bad spirits and was placed here to prevent you from knowing the truth. There is more to life than Shanghala, there are more beautiful things to see, in fact if the ‘tree’ didn’t hypnotize you with speech, you could go and experience another life for yourselves”
One of the inhabitants explains part of the downfall of Shanghala …
‘The Stranger’ asked father why he was still standing by the ‘tree’.
Our father replied, “I have need of the tree of knowledge”
why asked the stranger?
Father – “The one question that has not been answered is, who are you?”
‘The Stranger’ replied,
“I am nothing and everywhere I go, I must return to collect the gift I bring to all.”
Father – “And what is that?”
The Stranger – “The absence of knowledge, I bring the darkness … I bring “The Void”
